Two Week Update from Rich McNeely
2 Weeks In Update – A New Challenge
By Rich McNeely
As many of you know, I recently joined the Del Sol Industrial Services team. After my first couple weeks in, I wanted to take note of my thoughts and provide an update on what I’ve been up to. A bulk of the time so far has been spent at the Del Sol production shop in Texas helping to fabricate and assemble the demo mixer that I’ll be carrying in the back of the truck for the next few months, eventually ending up on display at the AFS Casting Congress in Cleveland in April. The machine came out beautifully and I’m excited to be showing it off! I learned a lot about controls, design mentality, and what makes the Del Sol offerings different from other pieces of equipment available on the market. We will certainly be expanding on these items as part of the upcoming web-site renovations that are occurring soon.
I also got brought up to speed on the status of a very large engineering project currently in process at Del Sol and am excited to be able to offer engineering services of this caliber to the foundry market going forward. There are getting to be significantly less people in the market who have the knowledge and experience to do a full engineering project, which is going to be a great service to be able to offer to our customers. There are other companies out there who can do system engineering, and there are other companies out there who can do equipment supply, but there are very few who can offer both.
I’ve known several of the team members for many years from past business experiences, but did get to meet the rest of the team while in Texas and am confident that they all share my same M.O. in regards to desire to serve the customer and integrity.
On the way home, I did get to visit with a customer and see their installation of a BFM250 Mixer. They did a great job of fitting it into a process they are developing and I gained some valuable feedback on the machine. They are very content with it at this point and are anxious to finish out their new system it is part of.
There are some large, very welcome challenges upcoming which I’ll be devoting significant effort toward such as product line development, marketing and advertising updates, and territory development. Getting our name, services, and equipment more known in the marketplace is paramount.
We, as a nation and a world, are experiencing some uncertain things right now in regards to the coronavirus, concerns about our health, changes in the economy due to it, travel adjustments, etc. While going through this and giving it its proper respect, we need to remember that the sun will still come up tomorrow. This may be a speed bump for humanity, but it certainly won’t be a roadblock. I look forward to looking back at this time and remembering it like we all currently do with past events that were going to be monumental and turned out to not be as huge a deal as we thought they were in the end (Y2K, Ebola, West Nile Virus, Mad Cow Disease, and Bird Flu to name a few)
Overall, I’m super thankful for the new path in my life and can’t wait to see where it leads!
Thanks,
Rich McNeely
