No Bake Molding Carousel from Palmer Manufacturing

A long time ago in a land far, far away, I worked for Palmer Manufacturing and had the opportunity to sell and design the first carousel molding system we produced.  Since this product was developed by Palmer, we have saved customer hundreds of thousands of dollars using this technology.  How?  Simplicity.  Carousels have fewer moving parts, fewer motor drives, simpler controls, and are lower maintenance.

If you are considering a new molding system, consider the difference between a "traditional" parallel conveyor molding system with a motor starter and photo eye for each zone versus a carousel with a single vfd drive, gravity conveyor, and three total proximity switches that tell us where the unit is at rotationally.  For a maintenance minded foundry, there is hardly a comparison between the two systems.

Well, how about productivity.  These units consistently hit the required production goals and are easy for operators to use well.

A video below is from a job that Del Sol consulted and Palmer Mfg. built the equipment for.  Super simple, easy to install, and most importantly, profitable.

Palmer No Bake Sand Attrition Mills

This is just a quick article on Palmer's Standard R Series Attrition Mills.

What is an attrition mill?  In basics, a box with a vibrator on the bottom of it.

What does it do?  It takes no bake or green sand lumps and reduces it to grain sized sand.

How does it work?  Attrition.  A fancy word for rubbing sand together to make grain size sand.

What's next?  After any attrition mill, we recommend a classifier for fines removal.  My fluidizing the sand, the fines are thrown into the plenum of the classifier so a dust collector can grab that fine thus reducing LOI (loss on ignition).

Low Level No Bake Shakeout Deck

One of our specialties is getting you the right equipment for the job.  This is one example of equipment that a customer needed, and our vendor was able to deliver.

The following video is of a Low Level Carrier Shakeout Deck.  This thing is awesome and is only 12" off of the ground.  The deck top is flat.  This reduces casting damage and wear.

This unit was installed in 2008 and this video is dated Jan. 2011.  This unit is in awesome condition for that term of service.  Would you like to see this unit run?  Shoot us an email or call at 830-935-4430 and we will set it up.

How do you buy the best sand mixer for you and your company?

How do you buy the best sand mixer for you and your company?

1.  Figure out what you need.  Fundamentally consider your process.  Do you need batches of sand or is a continuous sand mixer in order?
2.  Once you define the type of mixer you desire, think about how much sand you need.  If it is a batch, how large a batch must you have, and how many batches per hour will fulfill your product requirement.  Something to consider in this is realistic batch size.  With mixing sand, there is a point of way too much sand in a batch.  Mixers tend to lose efficiency when they are not properly sized.  Additionally, if you over-specify the size requirement, the equipment specifications become substantial and the equipment and its components become ridiculously priced.
