Oil City Iron Works has recently installed and commissioned a 6 ton per hour Enviroair Thermal Reclaimer that we had the opportunity to be a part of. Many foundries are looking for ways to save money, reduce environmental impact, and improve casting quality. This installation does all of the above. Oil City is an iron foundry located in Texas. They specialize in hard to make, high quality no bake castings. Once they realized the potential savings of thermal sand reclamation, they looked into the project. Oil City had their sand tested in units offered by Enviroair and others. They did a lot of homework to find the best purchase for the money, and we were honored they chose Del Sol and Enviroair.
The installation is beautiful, thorough, and up and running. If you would like to see thermal sand reclamation done right, Oil City Iron Works is a great place to take a look.
The system runs at 6 tons per hour and is fed by a mechanical attrition mill. While the Enviroair unit assures exit sand temperature of ambient plus 20 degrees, Oil City wanted to ensure sand temperatures stayed in the 90 degree F range, so a cooled air supply was provided with the unit to supply cooled ambient air. Oil City started up in the heat of the summer but sand temperatures were well within their requirements.
Enviroair builds clean and through control systems for monitoring all aspects of the thermal's operation.
All dust produced by the process of reclamation is efficiently removed by dust collection supplied by Enviroair. The collection is fully automated to not take off too much dust into the high temperature dust collector. Enviroair supplies the complete system including ducting.
